NICK
(VOX/GUITAR)
nicksjoint@hotmail.com
Nick
Morales came kicking and screaming into this world on the 24th July 1981,
and after a while he realized that he had a nasty passion for music. Since
he first picked up an instrument, he has played in numerous local outfits
including Thera, Yellow Poppers, Try See Kill, Oblong, Lynch and Noetic,
amongst many others. In ‘98 he joined playing drums with Patrick
Galea (Guitar) and Leon Madden (Bass) and thus Dripht were formed –
eventually moving on to Guitar and Vox in the present lineup.
Aside from
being a multi-instrumentalist Nick also is an animal rights activist and
a strict vegetarian, to such an extent that at times he feels hatred towards
the entire human race for being egotistical bigots, abusing their dominance
as a race to torture and kill animals unnecessarily and even worse, at
times for sport. However, after a little bit of reasoning, he concludes
that there are quite some good natured humans too, and he’s cool
with that.
Did anyone
mention a passion for music? Nick indulges in a very diverse and expansive
taste for music of any genre, and among his favourites he finds: Nirvana,
The Beatles, Bob Marley, The Doors, Deftones, Staind, At the Drive-In,
Mars Volta, Incubus, Rage Against the Machine, Blur, Bitterside, Radiohead,
Pearl Jam, System of a Down, Prodigy, Foo Fighters, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg,
Kanye West, NERD, Beastie Boys, Beangrowers, Mr. Bungle, Nofx, Rancid,
Pennywise, Operation Ivy, BNI, The I-SKAndal, Sublime, Queens of the Stone
Age, Etnika, The Strokes, The Clash, Muse, Coldplay, Travis, Keane, Jamiroquai,
Gang of Four, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, The Hives, Kings of Leon, Green
Day, Alexisonfire and Billy Talent… and the list goes on..
Not only
content with satisfying his cultural thirst through music, Nick is an
avid movie watcher. Some of his favorite movies include Napoleon Dynamite,
Memento, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Fight club, Lord
of the Rings, 28 days later, Phone Booth, The Ring, and Scarface…
Anyway,
enough about Nick, however before parting ways, he would like you to visit

FREDERICK
ABDILLA (BASS + BACKING VOX)
legpogo@yahoo.com
Frederick a.ka. "Il-Fre" joined Dripht by mid 2003 . 21 years of age,
Fre has Bass Guitar duties with Dripht. He also plays the guitar with
another ska-punk band called "The I-SKAndal". Fre loves all kinds of music,
as long as it makes him boogie and pogo around. He mostly istens to punkrock
and ska, dancehall-reggae, dub, rock 'n roll, pop, trip-hop and also lately
flirting with electronic music. He doesn't prefer one stlyle more than
the other, although if he was pressed into a corner he would choose a
mix of something punky and ska-ish. Frederick's biggest wish is to see
common people taking control of their own lives, have a more equal society
and being free from corporate culture that's dictating our daily lives,
while making us think that we're going forwards, when in fact we're all
just going backwards.
Some irrelevant information:
Favourite bands and artists: The Clash, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana,
Television, Gang of Four, Red Hot chilli Peppers, Bob Dylan, Franz Ferdinand,
The Hives, Rancid, Batteries Not Included, At the Drive-in, Bad Religion,
Bob Marley and The Wailers, The Specials, Madness, Jacob Miller, Linton
Kwesi Johnson, Buju Banton, Tracy Chapman and loads and loads and loads
of others...
Favourite drinks: Red Wine
Favourite foods: Anything which can be eaten
Favourite film: La Vita e' Bella
Favourite Books: "Fil-parlament ma jikbrux fjuri" - Oliver Friggieri,
"The Alchemist" - Paulo Colheo, "On the Road" - Jack Kerouac
Favourite Author: Paulo Coelho
Political Ideology - definetly left - but definetly not USSR Communism
Favourite quote: Emma Goldman - "It's not my revolution if I can't
dance to it"

El
FLAMBO (AKA DAN) (GUITAR)
flamb24@gmail.com
The latest addition to the Dripht line up, El Flambo stands in to replace
founding member Pat. Now also replacing Fre as the youngest member of
the group, he now finds himself in the nasty position of being the butt
of most jokes - but fear not, wit sharpened through 4 years in a buddhist
monastery keeps him standing strong. As they say, when Zen ends, ass kicking
begins.
Born
in the Canary Islands back in the day of George Orwell, and brought up
by a tribe of coconut weilding chimps, El Flambo plays guitar suited for
the militant funk and dub reggae of Dripht. El Flambo is not a newcomer
to the scene however, as former bands include the unfortunately monickered
Mass Debate and was once called in to stand in for Jimmy Page, but he
politely declined for political reasons - which brings us to another point
- his political agenda circles round free market economics with a strong
and fundamental social backbone, big government and a strong welfare system.
However he is completely against the fact that economic agents such as
large firms dictate governmental policy and believes that first and formost
that radical democracy is the key to a better standard of living. These
beliefs do not come from nothing however, he has experienced such a society
in the tribe of coconut-weilding chimps, and in fact according to the
United Nations Development Index, the same tribe falls second only to
Sweden as the most developed country in terms of literacy, health and
economic wealth.
The
Chimps introduced El Flambo to an ecltectic myraid of music from The Clash
to Fred Zeppelin, Augusto Pablo to Max Romeo, Boards of Canada to Richard
D James' assorted monickers, Franz Ferdinand to The Doors, Muse to Deftones
and last but definitely not least Snot to Rage Against the Machine.
After
a day of work in the Canary Islands, the Chimps' favourite past times
included sitting back, airing their feet and switching on their bamboo
framed home theater systems to watch Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,
Snatch, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Monty Python movies and sketches,
Quentin Tarantino movies, Natural Born Killers, Michael Moore's political
assaults, Jesus Christ the Vampire Hunter and much more. All of these
in fact are part of El Flambo's favourite silver screen releases.
Since
El Flambo is literate, he likes literature, doh. While Joseph Hellers'
Catch 22 is probably his favourite read (mainly since he is a good friend
of good old Orr who lives in Sweden), others include Aldous Huxley's Doors
of Perception/Heaven and Hell, Brave New World/Revisted, George Orwell
and Nick Hornby's High Fidelity.
As
a final note... while El Flambo is a cultured man and enjoys most forms
of art, he draws his main inspiration from the great (but unfortunately
also late) Salvador Dali. In fact he plans to write his own version of
"Diary of A Genius", but that's when he retires from the Sex,
Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll lifestyle. (His own words mind you)
